734 Broadway, N.Y. 10003: Samuel Weiser, N.d. [see below]. A FINE, evidently Unused Deck. Cards without a trace of rubbing or wear, and truly feel New in hand. The Slipcase Box shows no cracks or splits just light wear, extremity rubbing, with some light spotting to one side only (see scan). Inner sleeve Bright Gold, and Fine. Although there is still some confusion on publishing date, it was first released Summer 1972. Llewelyn's "The Gnostica News" advertises on the back of the First issue (Vol. 1 #1, Sept 1st, 1971), "Crowley's Thoth Tarot...Available Soon At The Gnostica". It is said that in early December 1971, Carl Weschcke sent advanced copies of the Deck to Grady McMurtry, with more advance copies to follow in February 1972. The First ever Thoth deck by Llewelyn, printed in Hong Kong, was released Summer 1972 as per "The Gnostica News" Vol 2, #1 (August 21st, 1972) advertisement showing the Thoth deck, for the first time, "available for purchase". Llewellyn Publications followed the First Hong Kong Printing with two (Printed in U.S.A.) corrected printings, improving on the First 1972 Hong Kong printing with a heavier card stock, and slightly better color using two-part color separation (It wasn't until 1978's U.S. Games Edition, that four-part color separation was used, much enhancing the quality). The First "corrected" 1973 Second printing, "now in their second printing" ("The Gnostica News", Vol. 2, No. 5, March 21st, 1973), still lacking the numeral 8 on the Eight of Cups (Indolence) card, and "Ace of Discs" inverted, was said to be corrected in the Third printing. It is also said, it wasn't until late 1975, early 1976 that McMurtry was negotiating the re-release of the deck with Weiser. This set is the Weiser Fully Corrected Issue, with "Caliph" title card address "Box 2043", as called for. Rare in condition thus.. First Thus. Slipcase Box. Fine/Near Fine.
