In recent decades, increasing numbers of Chicanos—that is, people of Mexican ancestry, born in the United States—have fought against the second-class status afforded them by conquest of the southwest of the United States and perpetuated by racial domination.This book provides a history of Chicano politics, from the incorporation of parts of Mexico into the U.S. to the present. It discusses the main theoretical issues debated in Chicano politics, and proposes a strategy for Chicano liberation.
