205pp , IN ENGLISH, ABOUT THE AUTHOR John Ernst Steinbeck :: , Jr. (Salinas , California, February 27, 1902 New York, December 20, 1968 ) 1 was a US writer who won the Nobel Prize for Literature and author known for novels like of Mice and Men , the grapes of Wrath and east of paraĆ­so.John Steinbeck was born in Salinas , California. His father, John Steinbeck (1863-1935) , was treasurer ; his mother , Olivia Hamilton (1867-1934) , teacher. John Steinbeck had three sisters. He studied at Salinas and then Stanford University 2, but never graduĆ³.3 He played various trades , including worker during construction of Madison Square Garden.4 In 1925 he went to New York , where he worked as a freelancer for the New York American , but was despedido.5 the result of this experience would be the Making of a New Yorker essay published in 1946 in the New York Times.5 Steinbeck returned to California a year later and worked as a tour guide at the aquarium fish Tahoe City, where he met Carol Henning , his first esposa.6 5 in 1929 he wrote his first novel , La Copa de Oro ( Cup of Gold : a life of Sir Henry Morgan, Buccaneer , with Occasional Reference to History ) , a fictional story historical based on the life of Henry Morgan , which was unsuccessful. In January 1930 he married Carol Henning and moved to Pacific Grove. There he met Edward Ricketts , a marine biologist, with whom he maintained a close friendship . In 1932 he published The Pastures of Heaven , a collection of stories set in the city of Monterrey. The following year he published The Red Pony and To a God Unknown . In 1935 Tortilla Flat, novel for which he received his first literary prize , " The Gold Medal " award granted by the Commonwealth Club of California for the best written by a Californian .7 With this collection of humorous stories novel , wrote Steinbeck won some success. In Dubious Battle In ( 1936) and Of Mice and Men (1937 ) , Steinbeck takes a picture of the working class during the Great Depressio
