About the Author
Dr. Paul L. Hamilton is a native of Pueblo, Colorado. An educator for the past 32 years, he received his doctorate in Education and Black Studies from the University of Northern Colorado, and his MA and BA degrees from the University of Denver. Dr. Hamilton was an instructor at the University of Colorado. He was also an adjunct assistant professor of history at the University of Denver and is a retired principal (Denver Public Schools). His consulting firm, Hamilton Education Consultants, offers consulting services on African-American history; success strategies; thinking skills; and a wide range of educational topics on curriculum development and teaching techniques. An accomplished lecturer, he presents workshops and lectures across the nation. Dr. Hamilton has been a Colorado State Representative (1969-1973) and a director of the Reverend Jesse Jackson's Denver PUSH-EXCEL Program. Although this book is his first major publication, he has written and published several other works, including: "Ending the Miseducation of Black Students in Denver" published in the Denver Post (1987). "The Relationship of the Residence of Denver's Power Structure to Individual Denver School Achievement" (1975). "A Brief History of the Denver Public Schools' Desegregation Case" (1974). "Teacher's Guide for Afro-American History" (1968), Revised (1970). "Strategies For A New African-American Renaissance: Fusing African World Culture + H.O.T.S. + Excellence" was presented to the National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE) and published in NABSE Newsbriefs in the fall and winter of 1992-1993. His travels abroad include trips to Asia and Africa; the most recent was an historical tour of Egypt (Kemet), London, and Paris with Dr. Asa G. Hilliard III.
