Three quarter smooth brown leather over marbled boards, dual spine labels in brown and black, raised spine bands with elaborately decorated compartments, speckled edges, books just under 8.25 inches tall. Internally very good with only modest shelfwear, joints good but a previous owner saw fit to reinforce some of the hinges internally with a flexible clear tape which has now been removed but has left darkened areas and a slightly sticky feel (8 hinges total of the set), firm bindings, clean pages with some unfortunate old transparent dampstaining to volumes V, VIII and IX. Armorial bookplate of Edward Ford, Enfield Old-Park on each front pastedown along with a small label with From the Library of Sir A.
