According to Jacques Vallee one who was there as the Internet was taking shape it is exactly that freedom the Internet?s original designers and builders intended for us to have. In an age where Information is Power, this corporate control comes in the form of data mining and selling of our personal and financial information, search engines who sell prime space without telling the user that search results are skewed, cookies on our hard drive, and many other forms of manipulation. All is not lost, though, and our freedom can be won back.
