Mr. Potts pushed on, and opening a green- baize door, the hum of many voices fell onErnest's ear; and he could dimly see, through an opaque but fragrant atmosphere of smoke, a wonderfully snug and cosy room. It was about square, with upholstered benches running round it, broken here and there by an arm-chair, and dotted over with small tables.
