It was certainly the first book on angling printed in the English language, and this Medlar copy of 'The Treatise', written by Andrew Herd, includes a page-by-page illustrated transcript, a brief history of fishing in the fifteenth century, and an insight into the legend of the mysterious Dame Juliana. Andrew Herd is well known as an angling fly fishing historian and is the author of the 'The History of Fly Fishing' and other books on fly fishing history.
