The individual exhibitions were titled: Breaking Away: Paintings and Drawings from the Colonial and Federal Periods; Vision of the New Land: Nineteenth Century American Landscape Paintings, Drawings and Photographs; Winslow Homer, Albert P. Ryder, Thomas Eakins; Mary Cassatt, James A. McNeill Whistler, John S. Sargent; American Impressionism; The Split Up: The Beginning of a New Art in America; Looking At America: Photographs from the Collection, 1840-1980.
