After two years working in a design studio,she then studied illustration under Quentin Blake at the Royal College of Art.Her first written and illustrated book 'Listen to This' (1987) won the 1988 Mother Goose Award for best newcomer.Author/illustrator of over 60 published books she is probably best known for her series of children's illustrated books featuring a child's toy called Blue Kangaroo. She has also illustrated books for a few other authors, frequently for Geraldine McCaughrean in particular - 'Greek Myths', 'Greek Gods and Godesses' and 'Roman Myths'. Recently (2011) she has again illustrated Grimm Brothers fairy tales in 'The Orchard Book of Grimm's Fairy Tales' by Saviour Pirotta.
