On my asking him one day, how he, who had been so much engaged in a laborious profession, and so much in public life (he was at one time Attorney General of the United States), had acquired so thorough and accurate knowledge of 'the old Greek and Roman authors. He replied, that he read some one of them daily; and that he had done so for more than thirty years.
