Hope-Hood was one of the Indian chieftains who signed the treaty of peace made Sept. 8, 1685, between His Majestys subjects inhabiting the Provinces of New Hampshire and Maine, and the Indians dwelling in the same Provinces. His name is also on each of the letters written May 15, 1685, by Kankamagus, alias John Hogkins, to Lieutenant-Governor Cranfield, imploring protection from the Mohawk Indians. His mark standing for his signature to the treaty, and also to the letters, is the same as on the deed to Coffin. The names of his three Indian associates, grantors in the deed, are scarcely known. They appear, however, with his, on the letters to Cranfield. 6 The name Ould Robin suggests a family connection.
