London Circa 1800, 1800. 1st Edition 1st Printing. No Binding. Good. Original Engraving, Narrow Margins All Around, Removing Explanatory Text At Bottom. Foxing. One Of A Large Collection Of Original Antique Engravings Formed By A Southern California Artist In The Early To Middle Twentieth Century. Each Plate Has Small Glue Marks On Reverse Where They Were Tipped In To An Album. One Of The Most Gifted Stipple Engravers Of The Late Eighteenth And Early Nineteenth Century, Circa 1792-1823 Relatively Little Is Known Of The Life Of John Chapman. He Is Thought To Have Been Mostly Self-Taught. During His Career, Chapman Engraved Exceptional Allegorical Subjects After The Designs Of J. Smith And Raphael Corbould. He Worked Closely With Thomas Macklin On His Shakespeare Series; Almost Half Of The Engravings Bear His Name., 1800, 2.5, (Port Townsend, WA): Graywolf Press. 1984-1985?. First Printing. Stiff card. A unique item consisting of photocopied short stories shot from the original appearances in books, magazines or newspaper, but the contributors match none of the published annuals. Both of these stories appeared in the first Graywolf Annual, but there the similarity ends.
