He met Tillie Spencer, and the two began their planning. That September Tillie and Chase held on-campus auditions. Of 35 applicants, 9 were selected.Six days after the initial auditions, the group traveled to Big Bear for what has become their Annual Fall retreat. The name Acasola was born (proposed by founding-member Erik Roget), and the group committed itself to the goal of competing at the ICCAs in that Spring. Three weeks later, Acasola's ICCA audition tape was submitted to Varsity Vocals for review.Shortly after its founding, Acasola began weekly performances on campus, with limited success. The group eventually found a sweet spot near Sierra Tower, netting a much larger audience . It is still the official Acasola Noonie location to this day.In the Spring, Acasola held their first annual Spring Retreat in San Diego, where Tillie Spencer arranged the group's popular Do You Believe In Ding Dong Love? The group went on to perform this, as well as two other songs, at the 2007 ICCA Quarterfinals, at USC. While the group received a warm audience response, they placed last in the rankings.
