Thors Provoni is an Old Man, the best of us, and superior to any New Men or Unusuals. He will return to this system with help. As he promised. This compact but comprehensive volume contains easy-to-follow practical tips on how to transform your lifestyle to effectively cope with that dreaded scourge called stress (and its aftereffects) while slogging from 9 to 5 (and beyond)! Frustrated, frazzled and fatigued, Uma, the fictitious-but-very-real heroine of this story (a top-level executive in the corporate world), undergoes a nervous breakdown because she has been deprived of a promotion that should have rightfully been hers as she has worked day and night for it. Her energy levels have hit rock-bottom. Fortunately, a ‘saviour’ comes to her rescue in the nick of time. In the space of a few months, she is transformed from a virtual zombie to a 9-to-5 yogi! How? Nope, she does not move to the Himalayas. Or join Swami-something-Ananda. All she does is make some simple changes to her routine (suggested by a down-to-earth yoga guru along with useful inputs from her ‘saviour’) that work wonders for her even as she maintains her work schedules. Offering substantive information with a light touch, Shubhra Krishan shows how, by starting with a few mild and easy ‘strokes’, anyone can swim away from the whirlpool of chaos towards the shore of good health, mental stability and a tranquil life pattern. The beauty of her thoughtfully chosen insights is that they use simplicity to create simplicity. That’s what someone as timestrapped and life-zapped as Uma needs. And Uma could be – you! You will come to know amazing facts such as: How ordinary items of daily use such as milk and milk products, vegetables, fruits and spices possess extraordinary healing powers; how the books you read, the TV programmes you watch and the colours of your walls and those of your bedlinen can affect your sleep patterns; and how a self-massage can get rid of fatigue and lead to absolute bliss. Here’s wishing you a happy journey towards achieving inner calm, a balanced mind and, above all, a fun-filled life in the future! Printed Pages: 190., Hay House India, 2011, Hay House India, 2011. Description: A Comprehensive Guide to the World's Hottest Martial Arts Discipline, Eddie Bravo, With martial arts champions such as Ken Shamrock and Tito Ortiz appearing on "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno, giving training tips in "Muscle & Fitness" and "Men's Journal", and conducting interviews on Howard Stern's radio show, millions of people are turning to the martial arts for sport, a means of self-defense, and a form of exercise. Many of these newcomers to the martial arts never stepped foot into a martial arts training facility, and have no plans of ever doing so. They want to learn to defend themselves without traveling to a gym or paying steep monthly dues. Some purchase martial arts guidebooks so they can prepare themselves both mentally and physically to enter a dojo a year or two down the road. "Martial Arts Unleashed: Jiu-jitsu" offers readers: a detailed history and evolution of the discipline; a description of the various theories and strategies behind training and competing; a breakdown of the gear and training space needed to get started; a description of warm-up routines, footwork, and stances; detailed instruction accompanied by step-by-step photographs that divulge everything from the basic kicks, punches, and blocks to the most advanced techniques; instruction on how to combine various techniques into sophisticated combinations; sample workouts for all levels of training; weight lifting programs to improve strength; cardiovascular workouts to improve stamina; sample diets to improve overall health; and, resources that show readers where to ply their trade and learn even more. For those desiring to learn the martial arts for self-defense rather than sport, the book features a section on those techniques best suited for practical application. For the more advanced students, this book describes how to blend this particular discipline with other styles, utilize certain techniques to defeat practitioners of other disciplines, and prepare for a variety of competitions. . Made from the elements, and crafted by Nature over millennia, Man is a highly complex vertebrate that needs food, water, air, sunlight and shelter from the vagaries of the weather in order to survive. He is also prey to a host of malignant influences from the surroundings he chooses to live and work in. As architecture, medicine and other fields of science have evolved over the centuries, greater light has been shed on the myriad forces – good and bad, discernible and indiscernible – that act on him, some of which are positively harmful to his mental and physical health. Modern man spends a large portion of his life indoors, so buildings with bad ventilation, poorly designed furniture and inadequate sunlight adversely affect his mind and body, crippling his efficiency. Moreover, several invisible but highly injurious sources such as toxic vapours and magnetic lines of force, also take their toll on his health. Ancient civilizations gave prime importance to these factors and many of their neglected techniques, such as directionology, are being revived today. This absorbing book takes a holistic overview of Man`s relationship to his surroundings, and contains many a vital clue on how to avert the ill effects of poor surroundings. No architect, interior designer, building contractor, home owner or employer can afford to miss its crucial message. Paperback. Good. Ted Smart - Paperback - Good condition - With so many articles and images in the media encouraging women to become thinner, younger and more successful, it is no wonder that females of all ages feel oppressed and face a constant struggle to achieve these ideals. Coming to their rescue with quick-fix solutions is the beauty industry offering a panoply of treatments that promise to change women's physical appearance and as a result their mental well-being too. Yet Leslie and Susannah Kenton argue that these are fruitless attempts at life enrichment - what really follows are feelings of dissatisfaction and vacuity. In their authoritative and inspiring guide, Leslie and Susannah offer an alternative to the beauty industry's empty promises: by embracing her authenticity and expressing her own individuality, a woman will radiate health and beauty naturally and feel truly empowered. The guide is secret because each woman's life journey is unique and she must discover her own path to fulfilment. Divided into three sections, Body, Beauty and Bliss, this comprehensive guide covers the full spectrum of a woman's needs for inner and outer health and beauty. It includes advice on how to: discover your individual beauty blockers; detox your body for lasting health and radiance; harness your body's natural capacity to heal and cleanse; overcome addictive eating and balance your hormones; create sacred time and space; and, beat anxiety and turn depression into creativity. Natural beauty, the body they desire and unfaltering mental bliss are within every woman's grasp: this guide is a must for those looking to find them and keep them. ., Vermilion, 2005, USA: Oxford University Press, Usa, 1989. Ltd., 2015. Today everyone is conscious about health but there are very few people who know that BUILDING can be one of the root causes of our diseases. Generally people are unable to find out root cause of ill health. Building and environmental conditions affect both mental and physical health of an individual. Health and home have a close relationship. People get affected by the environment they live in. This book on Sick Building Syndrome is an attempt by the authors to make a common man aware about threats of ill health from building and environment. It also highlights the causes, diseases and solutions to problems generated through building and its environment.A human body is a living organism or structure, embodied with energies in and around, with self maintained systems (physiology) running by themselves to maintain the organism. Similarly a building is also an enclosed vibrating structure with embodied energies in and around with partially self created systems and process primarily supported by forces of nature. Every structure is an enclosed space or embodied spatial form surcharged with energies within.Sick Building Syndrome is a complex problem created by multiple factors both physical and non physical in nature, affecting not just the physical but also the mental, emotional, intellectual and spiritual comfort and balance of the occupants. It is not just created through poor indoor air quality and poor building materials as mostly known but is also affected by many other factors combining to create unhealthy internal bio-climate, which includes holistic factors too. Paul’s rebellion is vintage Vonnegut—wildly funny, deadly serious, and terrifyingly close to reality...The appeal of Kurt Vonnegut, especially to bright younger readers of the past few decades, may be attributed partly to the fact that he is one of the few writers who have successfully straddled the imaginary line between science-fiction/fantasy and "real literature." He was born in Indianapolis and attended Cornell University, but his college education was interrupted by World War II. Captured during the Battle of the Bulge and imprisoned in Dresden, he received a Purple Heart for what he calls a "ludicrously negligible wound." After the war he returned to Cornell and then earned his M.A. at the University of Chicago. He worked as a police reporter and in public relations before placing several short stories in the popular magazines and beginning his career as a novelist. His first novel, Player Piano (1952), is a highly credible account of a future mechanistic society in which people count for little and machines for much. The Sirens of Titan (1959), is the story of a playboy whisked off to Mars and outer space in order to learn some humbling lessons about Earth's modest function in the total scheme of things. Mother Night (1962) satirizes the Nazi mentality in its narrative about an American writer who broadcasts propaganda in Germany during the war as an Allied agent. Cat's Cradle (1963) makes use of some of Vonnegut's experiences in General Electric laboratories in its story about the discovery of a special kind of ice that destroys the world. God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater (1965) satirizes a benevolent foundation set up to foster the salvation of the world through love, an endeavor with, of course, disastrous results. Slaughterhouse-Five; or The Children's Crusade (1969) is the book that marked a turning point in Vonnegut's career. Based on his experiences in Dresden, it is the story of another Vonnegut surrogate named Billy Pilgrim who travels back and forth in time and becomes a kind of modern-day Everyman. The novel was something of a cult book during the Vietnam era for its antiwar sentiments. Breakfast of Champions (1973), the story of a Pontiac dealer who goes crazy after reading a science fiction novel by "Kilgore Trout," received generally unfavorable reviews but was a commercial success. Slapstick (1976), dedicated to the memory of Laurel and Hardy, is the somewhat wacky memoir of a 100-year-old ex-president who thinks he can solve society's problems by giving everyone a new middle name. In addition to his fiction, Vonnegut has published nonfiction on social problems and other topics, some of which is collected in Wampeters, Foma and Granfalloons (1974). He died from head injuries sustained in a fall on April 11, 2007...Player Piano Author Kurt Vonnegut Delta trade publication 1999 January ISBN 0307568083, 9780307568083 Subjects Fiction › Literary Fiction / Classics Fiction / Literary LAXVespa@yahoo.com http://www.biblio.com/bookstore/ruth-reaser-culver-city .Used books are the "green" way to read and reduce your carbon footprint, we also try to reuse packing materials whenever possible keeping them out of landfills sooner rather than later.. not a thrift shop, no minions, megastore, books are priced so after everyone else gets theirs, I get small profit to cover time, costs sometimes an amazingly small profit... Returning home from the war, he unknowingly fathered an illegitimate son. In 2001, the son begins a search for his father and catches up with him just in time to see him arrested for masterminding the prison break of 10,000 convicts. Using his famous brand of satire and wit, Vonnegut captures twenty-first century America as only he could foresee it. In Hocus Pocus, listeners will find a fresh novel, as fascinating and brilliantly offbeat as anything he's written.Hocus pocus Author Kurt Vonnegut Contributor Kurt Vonnegut Publisher Putnam, 1990 ISBN 0399135243, 9780399135248 Length 302 pages Subjects Fiction › General Fiction / General Fiction / Humorous Fiction / Literary Prisoners Prisoners - Fiction Prisoners/ Fiction Satire Vietnam War, 1961-1975 Vietnamese War, 1961-1975..The appeal of Kurt Vonnegut, especially to bright younger readers of the past few decades, may be attributed partly to the fact that he is one of the few writers who have successfully straddled the imaginary line between science-fiction/fantasy and "real literature."
