The acme of this chapter, the author maintains is not"love your neighbor(Read Israelites) as yourself," but"love him(read alien) as yourself," and down him with equal social rights. With its English translation the convention nuance and power of the original Hebrew, this trilogy will take its place alongside the best of anchor Bible commentaries. Jacob Milgrom is professor emeritus of biblical studies at the University of California, Berkeley. The author of five scholarly books and more than 200 articles he was named a fellow of the Guggenheim foundation, A fellow of the Institute for studies in Jerusalem, and a senior fellow of the Albright Institute of archaeological research.
