Now it came to pass that the vuzeer of Bussorah was sitting at the lattice of his palace, and he looked upon the mule: then saw he what trappings of price were upon her, and thought her a choice beast, and that she was fit to be the riding mule of vuzeers, or great chiefs. So he pondered upon that, and his mind was bewildered in conjecture and he said to one of his servants, ' Bring to me the porter': And the servant went and brought the porter to the vuzeer, and the porter stood forth, and kissed the earth. Now the vuzeer was an old man, even very old, and he said to the porter, ' Whence is the owner of that mule, and what is his condition ?'
