Jenkins is the author and editor of numerous works on Texas history and bibliography, including - Recollections of Early Texas; Cracker Barrel Chronicles; Audubon & Other Capers; Printer in Three Republics; and I'm Frank Hamer. His monumental 10 volume Papers of the Texas Revolution won the Summerfield G. Roberts Award in 1973 for the best Texas work of the year. He is a Fellow of the Texas State Historical Association and a member of the Texas Institute of Letters and the Texas Philosophical Society.
