The colors of their ancient pieces possess greater vividness and depth; their forms, an originality and elegance of their own. The following authors, whose perusal will reward the deeper student, have been largely used in compiling these pages: Lettres edifiantes et curieuses, ecrites des missions etrangeres, published by L Abbe de Querbeuf, Paris; last edition, 1780-1783.
