Tuttle Publishing. Used - Good. Good condition. A copy that has been read but remains intact. May contain markings such as bookplates, stamps, limited notes and highlighting, or a few light stains., Tuttle Publishing, 2.5, Fireside, 1987-02. Paperback. Good., Fireside, 1987-02, 2.5, Great Britain: The Crowood Press. Harback First edition Aimed at anyone interested in taking up karate as well as those already in training, this book covers all aspects of this popular martial art. It includes the history and philosophy of karate, fundamentals, kicks and sweeps, weapons, training methods and karate in self-defence. It covers almost every aspect of karate; basic strikes like Gyaku-zuki (reverse punch) and Mawashi-geri (round kick); the basic blocks like Uchi-uke (inner block) and Jodan-uke (head block); every stance you could think of; the history of karate; infomation on stretching, balance and fitness; infomation on the many different weapons used in karat; and one thing that is nice is different ideas for layouts of circuit training. Many black and white photos are used to clearly illustrate what is being explained in the text underneath. The only thing that is missing is a section on kata but that is only becuase this book is meant as an overall introduction to all forms of karate and as kata is different from one style of karate to another they can't really list them all. In the back of the book there is a big glossary of all the karate terms so if you need to swat up a bit on what the different moves are in Japanese, then this section of the book will be useful 160pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions ,and all types of Academic Literature.) . Near Fine. Cloth. First Edition. 1996., The Crowood Press, 1996, 3.5<
