This map shows the island of Saint Catherine located off the southern coast of Brazil. Rendered with an engraved pattern, the land appears fertile, perhaps as a reference to the island's developing agricultural industry during this period in the late 18th century. Standing out against the blank sea, the island's coastline as well as smaller surrounding islands are clearly visible, with the most significant islands either labeled directly or according to a key. To the left, the coast of Brazil is treated with similar attention and decorated with a title cartouche at the top.The map appeared in Bellin's "Petit Atlas Maritime" and is in very god condition with wide margins as issued. A bright impression.
