Tall 8vo. 327pp. Blue buckram lettered in gold at the spine and with a gilt-stamped decoration to the upper board. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Endpapers and one blank preliminary and concluding leaf lightly spotted and toned. Very good indeed in somewhat handled non-price-clipped dust wrapper, nicked with five or six portions of edge loss from the spine ends and corner tips, chafed at the natural folds, and with some spotting to the flaps and internally. O'Brien A144. Lawrence was persuaded to undertake this new translation of Homer by Bruce Rodgers; he wrote it during his free time whilst serving in the ranks, and it was first published in 1932 in a limited edition of 530 copies.
