L'illustrateur de ce manuel d'exploitation, Pierre René Emile Marie Péron (1905-1988) commença très tôt une carrière prestigieuse en faisant des affiches pour le cinéma, la plus célèbre étant celle de King-Kong en 1933. En 1941, il réalise une affiche de propagande antisémite pour la Ligue Française, ce qui explique peut-être sa discrétion les années qui suivirent la Libération. Sa signature réapparait curieusement, dans les années 1950, chez Ferenczi dans la collection Police et Mystère, Nouvelle série. Au début des années 1960, on le retrouve essentiellement dans les publications pour la jeunesse ou des manuels scolaires chez Larousse ou Nathan.
