Harlequin, 2008-11-01. Mass Market Paperback. Very Good. 216 pages; edge wear; Logan Burke was no hero... But Roma princess Dara Adams--the sole survivor of her royal family--needed the legendary guide to help her restore an ancient artifact to her people. Instead she found this enigmatic half-Gypsy with desire smoldering in his eyes and a secret sorrow in his soul. Logan had vowed never again to take a woman across the treacherous mountain terrain. But with a sniper on Dara's trail, the sexy loner had no choice but to sweep her from harm's way. As they went in search of a hidden Inca city, they journeyed deeper into the heart of danger--and discovered a passion that could be their undoing...., Harlequin, 2008-11-01, Great Britain: Shire, 1976. Mass Market Paperback. Very Good/No Jacket as Issued. Great Britain: Shire, 1976. Very Good/No Jacket as Issued. 'And I'm descended from Adam', the electrical engineer announced. 'Aren't we all?', I asked. 'Maybe, but I've got proof. Look.' He'd staggered into the record office bearing an enormous roll of vellum on which were named his ancestors through a hundred generations. With the help of a professional genealogist he had traced his pedigree to that great-grandfather who had been the youngest son of a country squire. Then in Burke's Landed Gentry he found a printed family history which apparently proved the squire's descent from a son of Edward III. Edward Plantagenet's ancestry led back through the Old English kings, as the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle indicates, to the god Woden and the royal line of Judah. And the kings of Judah traced their ancestry to David, Abraham and Adam. This much my friend detailed on the family pedigree. Of course not everyone wants a pedigree that is a mixture of legend, wishful thinking and nonsense. Every family, however modest, has a history and this history can be traced in English records for at least several centuries. The Morris family, ancestors of Lord Nuffield, the motor manufacturer and philanthropist, worked on the land like most Englishmen for generations. Yet this humble family has a proven pedigree with unbroken descent for four hundred years. In drawing up a family tree or pedigree, you aim to trace back generation after generation in order to learn who your ancestors were, where they lived, how they earned a living, what wealth or social position they attained and what contribution they made to the growth of their community. Genealogical work is certainly interesting, a lifetime's hobby in some cases. It is also educational in teaching about the past in general, in providing training in the use of old manuscripts, and in revealing the lives of ancestors whose character, features and achievements you have probably inherited. I myself have traced my own family. I have completed pedigrees of other families. During one project I sought the personal histories of every inhabitant in one community during the earliest period of the Industrial Revolution. I have therefore devised a line of attack which I outline below. You will not get back to Adam or even King Solomon by my method but you may well reach Edward III in the fourteenth century.

, Shire, 1976<
