Brig (Dr.) M. A. George is a qualified medical doctor registered with the Medical Council of India. He has medical qualifications as well as management qualifications. He is a recognized authority in hospital administration and has managed hospitals ranging from 100 beds to 800 beds. He has practical experience of more than 40 years in hospital management. He is faculty in colleges in India, running post-graduate courses in hospital administration and a university examiner in the subject. He has written two books, The Hospital Administrator and Hand Book for Practicing Hospital Administrators. The former has been published by Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers of Delhi, the premier publishers of medical books in India. The proofreading of the second book has been completed and this book is being published by the same publishers as the first one. In his lifetime of hospital administration as hospital administrator and medical director, he noticed that the hospital supporting services were taking second place to the clinical services with considerable loss to the quality of functioning of the hospital. This book, which deals with the various supporting services and deals with the subject from a functional, clinical and management perspective, is the result. He is the first qualified physician who has written on the subject and this is the only book by a physician on the subject from India.
